Lian Essam was born in Baghdad, and before she turned 1, she left to the welcoming land of the United Arab Emirates. She was raised in a family which loved poetry and literature, and from which a prominent poet came from; her grandfather, Ali Jafar Al Allaq, is a well-known poet in the Middle East. Lian’s experiences in life rendered the birth of lots of ideas for her poetry, such as missing her homeland, or cherishing her loved ones. Her heart always kindled between the pages of her numerous set of books. She wrote her first poem when she was merely in seventh grade. She won the Spelling Bee Award in her school when she was in sixth grade. Many teachers helped in feeding her abilities. She is now among the members of the Gifted and Talented in her school.
